A nicely realized sci-fi city concept

All of us have probably thought up something like this at some point or another when watching some sci-fi movie or tv show. It's quite another thing to have the talent and vision to flesh the idea out life this guy did. Really nice work on that page. Wonder if the guy works as a mat painter?

how is this any more fleshed out than what would be seen in a sci-fi setting? isn't think pretty similar to what blade runner and the fifth element were like, minus the crater in the sea.

Man that would suck to have it hit by a hurricane/typhoon/tsunami (tsunami depends on how the island ring is formed), say goodbye to all the peons down below.

Cool concept... but how can you have such a gaping crater/hole like that in the middle of the sea; unless the city has ultra-powerful pumps to keep the water out below.

Agreed... and when the sea breaks in, its game over.

Brings up a point about trash, think of how nasty the bottom area would be and how crappy it would be to live at the bottom of a giant hole? I'm betting crime would be high and so would the suicide rate since it would be so dark and the poor would live there (Let?s face it, only the rich would get to live on top).

And who the heck would want to hang out on that beach?

?? That's just about exactly me point. Most people have thought of ideas like this but few except those in the movie industry itself have had the time and talent to bring them this far. This is an example of something NOT in a movie or book, just an idle idea that has been fleshed out to the same degree and with the same amount of skill as what you see in the movies, well almost.

Hence the one picture pegged to the bottom of slums! He thought of everything.

but my point is that he didn't do anything new...he just copied a movie...how is that fleshed out. fuck, back in elementary school my friends and i fleshed out ideas for video games that were more detailed than that.
