A new theory that aims to replace the Big Band

Huh, and I always thought the Big Band Era was real. I bet they made up the Glenn Miller Story too.

The Big Band Theory is for real. So is Super-String Theory (By Y. Menuhin). And Dark Matter Theory (By L. Cohen).

I might be reading it wrong... but does it actually replace the big bang theory? Seems to me that it is more lke expanding upon it instead of replacing it.

<< A new theory of the universe suggests that space and time may not have begun in a big bang, but may have always existed in an endless cycle of expansion and rebirth >>

I can't wait till I'm in a higher science class and I can wrap my mind around a statement like that. If it was always there, how did it get there? What was there the day before it got there?

This isn't new, the expansion/contraction idea has been around forever, this is just a modification after they didn't find enough matter to meet the original theory. Big bang has a couple inconsitencies in it that they are trying to explain so new ideas are constantly being proposed. Wait till one of the explanations gets some concrete evidence backing.

Try considering for a moment that there is no day before....get it now? It always existed, from t=minus infinity to today and will continue till t=plus infinity. t being time of course. Hope that helps.

Numbers can be construed as a man-made attempt to explain patterns and rules found throughout the universe.

Only thing is, they're not concrete, and there are some logical impossibilities (0?, infinity, etc.). Same with the rules and laws of the universe we live in... they're all bendable, in some way.

Or maybe I'm just full of it. :D

<< After 14 billion years, the expansion of the universe accelerates, as astronomers have recently observed. After trillions of years, the matter and radiation are almost completely dissipated and the expansion stalls. An energy field that pervades the universe then creates new matter and radiation, which restarts the cycle. >>

Isn't this old news? The universe is expanding and everything is pushing away at a phenominal speed.
