Question A new PSU popped up @ Newegg - "GAMEMAX VP-600". 80Plus Bronze, Modular, $41. Anyone know anything about it?

GAMEMAX VP-600

Seems a little too good to be true. 600W, 80Plus Bronze, Modular, flat cables, etc., for $41? Anyways, curious to learn if this is a Chinese brand, or a new branding exercise from one of the "big makers" of PSUs.

And yes, I know of the "rule of thumb" about AVOIDING any PSUs with "Max" in their name (except for Enermax).

Edit: Thanks for the thumbsup, but I should be clear, I'm not trying to recommend or promote this PSU, rather, I'm asking for more info, because if it's a decent OEM mfg, a 600W modular 80Plus Bronze PSU at this price-point would be great to use as a system-builder PSU, even with the janky name.

Bryan had a couple of vids about them. The first vid he roasted them, the second was after dealing with Gamemax. Turns out the first one was a fake with a fake sticker. He has decent things to say about the real ones though. For the money, I think they are far from the worst pick for white box budget builds. There are Apevia PSUs that are rebaged quality Andyson, so the name on the sticker is not always the whole story anyways.

Newegg has the same problem as Amazon and Ebay.

No way to know if it is counterfeit or not.

Companies like Newegg and Amazon should be held 100% legally responsible/liable for everything they collect money for.
In the case of the one Larry linked from Newegg; it is directly from GAMEMAX. https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=1065866551&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&sstore=1

So no worries about counterfeit merch. EDIT: Or in the case of the one tech yes bought, a much lower wattage GAMEMAX.

On NewEgg I always sort for "sold by NewEgg" as a *hope* they are doing better than Amazon Prime and still actually sourcing their own stock. The only exceptions are when I am shopping direct from a vendor (BitFenix, for example) and want to know I am buying direct from them.

Amazon has a serious issue - all "Marketplaces" do really - but Amazon co-mingling of stock for Prime is really crap. I don't buy batteries or memory cards/usb drives from Amazon anymore after getting "name brand" garbage.
