Hi one and all.
Just decided which heatsink to buy so I can overclock some more.
Now I want to upgrade my graphics card and with so many choices it is damn hard to know which way to go.
I have decided to go with an 8800GT or a 9600GT I really like the look of the XFX GeForce 9600GT XXX Alpha Dog Edition
here
Or should I look for an 8800GT like the XFXGRAPHIC: XFX PCIe 2.0 8800GT 512MB Fansink.
here
Would just like a few ideas and options.

That's probably the worst 8800GT you could buy. You want a BIGGER fan, not a smaller one.

With the new ATI cards out in like 2 weeks which by most accounts will be priced lower and perform better, I would wait.

He's in australia, look at the websites hes linking to ? So newegg isn't really an option I guess. But waiting for the new ati/nvidia cards is DEFINATELY worth it !!!

I really wouldn't buy ANYTHING right now... wait 2 weeks. The new gen of AMD midrange and nVidia high end are both arriving in 2 weeks, and it is the first redesign for both companies in 2 years (they have only been doing die shrinks the last year).

Current products will see their prices plummet, and you could also get much better products for the 200$ you seem to be willing to spend.

The title was all in caps, it's not a big deal but we do try to encourage a basic level of decorum. Don't sweat it.:)

PS You should turn your PM ability on

Thanks all for your advice have decided to wait for the new cards looks like the 4850 may be the way to go.
Just wonder how much they will try to sell them for in Aus
Just one other question, I have never had an ATI card before only NVidea do I need to uninstall the current vid card drivers etc prior to installing an ATI card?
Thanks

yes...
1. Uninstall old driver (from add remove programs)
2. Turn off computer
3. Put in new card
4. Turn on computer
5. Install new driver...

If you have any trouble after that (and you shouldn't), then boot into safe mode, and run driver sweeper, then go back into regular mode and install the drivers again. but that should happen.

Since when did ATI outperform Nvidia in recent times?
