I have Canon S100 for one year. The pictures I took from this camera are great, the only problem is the zoom. It has such a limited zoom. I am thinking to switch it to Nikon 775 (well, they look alike, maybe it's small and light).

Should I keep my old camera or buy this new one for around the same price as if I sold my old one?

What else digital camera is good out there? So far, I am aiming for a <3 but >2 meg pixel digital camera with Compact Flash memory. Final price not to exceed $300.

Thanks for any information

I'm not surprised to see RossMan respond. He's the Canon A40 spokesperson or something.

Anyway, Nikon 775 didn't get very good reviews. Something about major shutter lag. I have the Canon A40 as well and it works fine.

How much can you sell your old one for?

Final price not to exceed 300...maybe you sould get a Canon S10 or something.

Another consideration is the Fuji Finepix 2600 which is a great digicam but it takes SM not CF.

IMHO nothing beats the Canon PowerShot A40 in the $300 price range.

I've only been the unofficial Canon A40 fanboi since 6/7/2002 when I re-read this Hot Deals thread and realized this is THE perfect digicam I have been searching for.

Well it was a few days ago, OfficeMax.com is currently out of stock however local OfficeMax stores (which are closed now) do have this in stock. I bought a few earlier today for some friends who didn't know how to use the coupon and get the free 64MB CF.

Oh well you'll probably miss out on the free 64MB CF offer but you can still buy the Canon A40 for $249 at your local OfficeMax B&M. There is a $50 off $250 coupon which expires 8/26 and another which expires 12/31. Just click the coupon code link, print it out, take it to your local store and explain that the Canon A40 is not available for online ordering and they'll more than likely honor the coupon. It's best though to call ahead and speak to someone, write down their name and ask for them when you arrive at the store that way there's no questions.
