Hi there everybody
I'm a consultant obstetrician w/ a pretty decent knowledge of computers. OK here goes - please don't flame me - I don't quite know where to post this ?!!
I'm trying to get a contraption rigged up which will capture stills from ultrasound machines
Hope somebody can help me !!!
All portable USG scanners have 2 ports at the back for external connections.
1. For a printer - strangely, it's a standard BNC port which connects to an RCA port on the printer (proprietary, unfortunately) side - no parallel cable here
2. The other one is similar and connects to a greyscale VGA monitor so that the patient can watch the scan live on a second monitor. unfortunately, it doesn't connect to a standard computer monitor via an HD-15 connector.
What I plan to do is this :
1. get a BNC to RCA-1 cable (easy
)
2. get a USB capture device with 2 ports - USB and S-video
3. plug the USG port #2 to the BNC end of the cable
4. plug the RCA end into the S-video of the capture device
5. plug the USB port of the device into the USB end of a Serial to USB converter
6. plug the Serial end of the ruddy converter into the serial port of a notebook
7. Plug and PRAY !!!
DUH my head hurtz
Hope dis works !!!
It'll still work out cheaper than a Snazzi I guess ?!!
Any inputs appreciated (Hint hint!)
Ciao and thanks a billion for any help !!
