I have been using burners since I first got a Pinnacle Micro 2X in 1995. It was a good external SCSI device. Since then I have had Plextor, Tamaha, and H-P . . . all external SCSI (Once you are set up for that, it is literally PnP.)
Now I have a new toy that performs better than anything I have used . . . the QueFire! by QPS, Firewire external. It is a 12X10X32 powerhouse that is totally PnP via a Firewire cable. (My new Gateway Solo 9300cx has a 1394 port and it plugged right in.)
So far, all testing has been extremely positive, and the data flow via Firewire is oputstanding. Also . . . it runs quiet and cool and has no fan. The case is a la Mac G4 (smoke and transluscent white plastic).
So, if you have a Firewire yen . . . don't ignore this puppy. I didn't even need the driver CD because Win ME had all it needed internally.
