I was sitting in the airport today at Dulles, struck up a conversation with a man in the "smoking lounge" and learned that he had a couple of computers.

I said - hey, I have a gift for you... handed him a pre-configured BORG diskette. Buah. He got all jazzed about RC5 in no time.

I'm going to carry them with me at all times now... just a thought. :)

Dan the Man! Maybe you can prepare some of the mini-CD's people use for business cards. Oh yeah! :)

I always carry a disk with the client, and my .ini configuration. It just does me no good ;) Apparently you also have to meet the right people. I've used that disk once so far...maybe i'll have a chance to use it again.

What do you tell the ppl? What do they like about it? How can you convince them to start?

Wolfie -

Mostly - I say "I have a gift for you" - That's the icebreaker.

I tell them how destructive temperature fluctuations in their processor core are - how it's alot like keeping your car in a heated garage in the winter - and...

Most Importantly - "How much do you like to WIN?"

Buah.

That's a fantastic idea! Way to go Dan! :)

Add the line that we're currently 2nd out of (how many?) teams in RC5 and that'll get him to throw in his lot.

By the way, i went on a roll and have pretty long threads in local hardware forums in my country (Singapore). Fellow Duron owners are interested and hopefully assimilation is next!!

I related my experiences on how RC5 helped me determine my stability hehe plus my trademark speech.

By the way, does anyone know how many teams there are exactly in RC5? My line's still incomplete. TeamAnandtech is currently 2nd out of XXXXXX teams in teh RC5 cracking competition!

The stats page says there are 10,186 registered teams.
(on the overall project stats page near the bottom)

Nice Dan.

I'm amazed you were able to get anything done in the "smoking lounge."

Whenever I need to use the one at Dulles, it seems to me that it would be more aptly named the "asphyxiation lounge."
