Low end laptop I needed for work. But, its better than nothing.

Acer 3680, Celeron M 420 @ 1.73. 512 ram, Vista basic. Only $450 US.

Wanted more, but didn't need more. Just going to be used to configure HughesNet systems. And of course crunching.

So after having it for the weekend I find that Microcenter dropped the price $50, down to $399. :|

So off to the store I go and get my price match, just to turn around and spend that $50 on another 512mb of ram. Vista is much faster with a gig under the hood.

I've always wondered if other people name their comp-uters.

I have: Chocobo Farm (retired temporarily), Fullmetal Chocobo (retired), Chromatic Chocobo, and Mercurial Chocobo.

I have had various styles of naming. Decided to stick to a few for now:

My server has been - Server, Master and is now Matrix
My main machine has been Master (before becoming the server) and now is Trinity.
My crack racks have been - cluster 01 - cluster 16.
Now my proper crack rack is Borg 01 - Borg 12. A tower of pure computing power. Extended with the help of our friend AMD.BORG
The odd spare machine floating around is cluster 01.

FC: where does the Chocobo come from?

Chocobo is a large bird from the Final Fantasy game series. I named my first machine that I built after them (Gold Chocobo -- a P2-233 gaming machine with a 3dfx voodoo 2 back in 1998-ish), and I have been doing so ever since.

Coincidentally, my PCs continue the Terminator legacy, with my old 1.8p4(t-1000) still holding on, to current C2D6300(T-4000). Arnold(athlon900) was sold last year for $55 & never did stop ticking.

My main rig used to be called Worf ,its now my forum name ,my 2nd rig is called Homer & I also had a rig called Bender (Futurama not anything else).

I'm thinking though my new naming regime will be after the various Battlestar ships from the new Battlestar Galactica (Galactica & Pegasus are mine before anyone starts)
