A mystery or just an old card?

I just got a Biostar M7TDR motherboard and was installing it but when I went to put in my old Voodoo3 3000 card, the AGP slot was "backwards, i.e. in order for my graphics card (which has one thick and one thin plug unlike the newer cards which appear to have 3 smaller plugs) to have slipped into the slot, the mounting bracket would have to end up inside the case.

I compared my new motherboard to 3 other computers in the house and it was indeed facing in an opposite direction but compared it to the picture of the board at biostar's website and it would appear to be the same. Is my video card just old? Do I need an adapter? If I get a new card with three AGP connectors, will it slip in?

I believe this has something to do with AGP voltages ? ( or was it AGP transfer rates.. ?) Any way a new AGP card will probably have the three type connector you describe.
