A multi-forum issue- so posting here.. How do I transfer Hi-8 vids to DVD?

I have dozens of hours of irreplaceable tapes which won't last forever. What do I need for hardware/software to transfer them?
 
You'll need a video caputure card to get them into digital video. Then you need to convert them to MPEG2 format and burn them to DVD.
