A movie I cant remember the name of

I am thinking of this movie that I watched when I was young about 12 - 15 years ago. I cant remember much of it but I liked it. I remember 2 scenes but at this point they could be from two different movies. If they are maybe you guys could help name either or both.

Scene 1 - A kid in his beadroom looks at his closet and there is this short creature in there. I dont remember what he looked like but the kid went into the closet with the creature and the back of the wall pushed back and turned into a long hallway that they ran down.

Scene 2 - I remember a kid in this movie and there was a rat that was evil I think. It got stuck in the record player and he turned it on and it killed the rat.

LOL I know this sounds crazy but maybe someone else here remembers this? I think they may be the same movie.

"Cat's eye". Only it wasn't a rat, it was some weird gremlin thing that stole your breath when you slept.

oh yeah, were the kids in both scenes a boy or a girl?

Dude it was like almost 20 years ago lol. Im 24 in two days. I dont really remember but if you post anmes of movies i would be phappy to do some searching and buying of dvds just to check them out. I have always wondered what movies they were and now I want to get to the bottom of it.

I'll be 24 soon as well, but both movies sound really familiar. I've seen too many weird 80s movies though so its hard to remember which is which I need specifics. Check out "Labryinth" cause I don't remember how Jennifer Connely travels into the fantasy world.

I had this hit of nostalgia about a year ago and quickly wanted to find out what a childhood movie was. I posted on IMDB and within 2 days the crazy people there had found my movie and provided me links and what not.

No, time bandits had a scene where the dwarves were running from god and pushed the kid's room wall out and it kept sliding back like that. No rats in the movie though.
