Is george carlin very patriotic? For some reason I was under the impression that he wasn't, but maybe that's just because it seems like he whines about everything

I wouldn't even mind some America bashers, they just prove something beyond anything I could say. What makes our country great is that they are free to hold whatever opinion they want, and speak loudly and at great length about it. It's taken for granted now, but never forget that this wasn't always true. It took a group of very brave people to stand up to the status quo and create this country. Like it or not, we set an example that the rest of the world is slowly following, some parts more quickly than others. But Pandora's box was opened, and America was the country that did it. Even if you hate the US, you have to stop a moment and think about what this day means to everyone, and not just Americans.

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh on talk radio today and a man called in saying how Independence Day this year should be for mourning, rather than celebration. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Rush tear the guy a new asshole .
