A Moderation 'action' forum? Post ratings?

I've seen this type of forum on a few other boards I visit.

I'd suggest it be created in the "Forum Issues" section of AT. When a moderator takes an action that is transparent to most users, the moderator should post a summary of what was done and why. Transparent actions would be things like bans, vacations, post deletion, thread deletion, member renaming, etc. It would not be things like post editing because AT moderators write in bold directly in the user's post.

Here's my argument for this forum: First, it keeps a running tally of what has happened at Anandtech. The tally helps keep members informed of big changes (such as when a member gets banned) and helps the community establish a history and a record of how things have changed. Second, members can look at previously locked / deleted topics and see why action was taken so as to avoid it the in future (you would have to decide whether to include the original threads or posts).

Anyways, the other thing I'd love to see is a digg-style system where users can rate posts. We can do this for threads now, so what about for users?

Not going to happen.

Ah, how I yearn for the good old days....
😉

EDIT
BTW, link us to a few of these forums.

To be honest I preferred the days of anonymity and no transparency. The public identification of the mods has been a complete disaster in my opinion, just as I imagined it would.

The only reason I could see for doing this, would be to show other members what not to do, but let's be honest with ourselves, we should all already know this anyway as it is common sense, or at least it should be. 😉

FWIW, 99% of the Mods agree with you.

Hmm I've been gone for a while...can someone update me?

Olds doesn't have the mod tag anymore and it has been a disaster?
