Hm, I found a MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard with two PATA's. These mobo's will support DDR2-800 for the Phenom II right?

$20 bucks for an IDE controller card work for you?

That would let you use the chipset of your choosing ....

Yes it supports DDR2-800 and Phenom II.

However if you need more IDE channels you might be better off getting another motherboard and just adding a PCI card. Not saying the MSI is necessarily bad, but if you're only considering it because of the dual IDE, you may as well look into other options that may suit you better.

Never thought of that! Duh.

I tried to use a GIGABYTE GA-MA770-UD3 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard but the damn thing wouldn't post. Didn't make any sense. RAM was good, CPU had to be good, and the video card was good. Bascially all I tried to do was switch out the mobo/cpu to my tower and it wouldn't post. Very frustrating. It seemed like the mobo was not detecting the video card though it was perfectly seated.

ATI4850 with a 550watt enermax PSU. Works on my AM2 Asus just fine with the Gskill DDR2-800.
