A message to those who caught MSBlaster at home:

GET A FIREWALL. Windows without one = hacked. The patch doesn't change this fact.

Any broadband router with NAT (all of em basically) would have prevented this, and often they are actually free after rebate.

Even a software firewall (ZoneAlarm, Tiny Firewall, etc) would have prevented this.

Not true....if you let a system on your LAN with the virus...and you were not pacthed...then you would have gotten it...firewall or not.
The issue isnt getting a firewall so much as it is PATCHING your OS when a high risk issue arises.

Yes it is...you can also get a util from Microsoft (not sure of the URL) to scan your systems to see if they are patched or not.
