I'm in the market for a new laptop. I mainly use DreamweaverMX, Adobe Photoshop CS, Doom3 and Half-Life 2. These two notbooks maxed out on hp's site both should kick ash. $1,517.00 for the AMD 4000+ notebook and $2,168.00 for the Intel p4 650 chip etc. The only thing that kind of worries me is the graphics card/chipset of the R4000..:-/ All the programs I mentions are equally very important to me. So I need some of you gEeKs out there to give me some input. I'm definitely a gEeK but unfortunately I don't have all the answers...🙂

Thanks,

Not to mention the price was of some importance to me as well...heh. So if the performance between the two would not be that severe I might as well go with the cheaper one....? dunno...

One more thing, doea anyone know the deal with the 128MB ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory? Like how good of a card that actually is lke for gaming for instance? I'm not that educated on the card. It is an option with the R4000.

That card will suck for gaming, it's based on the x300se. If you want to game you need a minimum r9700/6600go.

You should look into the Dell 9300, 17" widescreen LCD with a geforce 6800go. Should be able to get one for around $1500.

Yes even with the 4000+. A good graphics card is your priority....You should get an Intel Mobile chip or an AMD Turion when it comes out.

I agree with Ben. You could have an FX processor in a desktop machine and pair it up with a low end card and you will get slow performance out of your games.

And the 9300s from Dell are worth looking at. I would get a machine with the Pentium M or the Turion (if you can find one).
