a matter of soap

i'm seeing more and more places use foam-type soap and dispenses rather than the traditional liquid one. the foam is initially in liquid state.

1) so, does foam soap last longer than liquid soap given the same liquid volume?

2) how does the dispenser turn the liquid into foam?

it looks like from the wiki (and additional google searches) that you can't fill a regular soap dispenser with this stuff... should have known.

Foam soap is amazing, I see liquid in the bottle, I press the handle and BOOM foam comes out. It's like a magic trick.

I think most people overuse liquid soap also. A full pump gives too much soap for the job. Foam gives you the volume, and an appropriate amount to wash your hands.

Interestingly, Antibacterial soaps have been shown to actually increase pathogenic flora on hands by two reasons. One by selectively choosing resistant bacteria (usually more pathogenic to begin with) and two by being more damaging to the hands which allows pathogens to harbor better.

Antiseptic Alcohol based gels are the preferred choice in sanitizing especially in the medical field.

That sounds about right. I usually lose a junk of the liquid stuff while lathering.

I don't like foam dispensers, part of washing your hands is the friction required to build lather and help clean your hands. If you get the foam already, people tend to just rinse it off without doing much
