(2127-1667)/1667= ...

not a great overclock but good. i think 50% is what most people shoot for.

I thought that 2127 out of a 1667 was pretty good. Check out the motherboard and ram in this. The board is a GA-7ZXE (not good) and 1 stick 512Mb Micron-Crucial PC133

What?!!Thats impossible. It cannot happen. NEVER!!!! what fsb you running. You couldnt pull that with pc133 could you and that board. If you were able to pull that off with those componants then why are you asking the pro's. Cause what you pulled off if incredible

Not really... a barton has twice the L2 cache... typically, it takes an extra 100 mhz for a thoroughbred to make up the difference the extra L2 cache makes. So if you wanted to talk in terms of performance, you were about 140 Mhz short...

According to the Overclockers.com database, the average overclock for an XP2000 is 2GHz (for a Thoroughbred -- for a Palomino it's 1882), so this is a good overclock. That average was brought down a bit by someone who entered 1250 as their "overclock" for that chip, but the sample size is large enough that it shouldn't have brought down the average too much. Overclockers also shows the average overclock for a P4 2.4C to be 3323 (i.e., 38.45%). Even the famed XP1700+ "only" has an average overclock of 2153 (i.e., 46.46%). So, I think the 50% number is too high. I usually consider an overclock in the 20% - 40% range to be good.

Figuring out the percentage is very easy. You can do the early subtraction method like Yourself has pointed out but there is an even easier way. Just divide the new number by the old number and you get what percentage of the original you have.

2127 / 1667 = 1.276 ... therefore you are running at 1.276 times the original speed, or 127.6%, or 27.6% faster . See, math is fun! :)

And don't listen to what gururu is saying:

Most people here are running their XP2500+ chips (1.83 Ghz) at XP3200+ speeds (2.2 GHz). That's only a 20% increase!

Granted the 1700+ chips give a much better percentage overclock, ie 1700+ (1.43 GHz) @ 2.25 Ghz is a 57.3% increase.

still that's unreal...a stick of PC133 @ 170fsb? i've heard of some people pushing 166fsb w/ PC150...that's great memory you have, comsidering its a little outdated.

anyways, congrats on the OC. the only 50% OCs these days are some P4 chips, and i guess the XP1700+. but a 27% OC from a chip on which most people only average a 20% OC is excellent.

This is what my processor is
AXDA2000DUT3C
AIUHB0316MPMW

I just kept raising the fsb and the motherboard raised the voltage. I started at 1.60V and the board raised it to 1.68V when the fsb was at 340. I added some cooling to the graphics card and the chipset. Am going to try for more. The board will let me up the fsb anywhere from 133 to 200. Would only run prime 95 at 170 so far.
