Bollocks. Bin Laden compelled us to convert in a video he made in 2005. America collectively refused. What happened? Nothing. He offered a truce with us in January. White House response: "Sod off." What happened? Nothing. Did he invite us to convert in August 2001? Nope.

You're giving the cave dwellers far too much credit IMO. At their best they are able to exploit loopholes in conventional security to perform crude attacks (suicide/car bombings, hijackings, etc) while intelligence agencies are asleep at the wheel, so to say. They will never have enough power to commit anything on a really grand scale (nuclear or otherwise) although they will bluff that they may (with some help from the fear mongers in the White House).

At the blink of an eye we can turn the entire Middle East into a glass ashtray. The best they can do is crash planes into a building. This raises the question, who's side is God on? I'd say ours.

That's the problem with terrorism, the job is never done, at least not militarily. Most of it started not because of our foreign policy, but because Kuwait didnt turn to Osama to help, and asked us to help.
