A guy at work needs a new keyboard for a Mac that his kid has at school (about 1000 miles away). He says the mouse plugs into the keyboard, and the keyboard is USB. Does he have to have this set up for a Mac, or can he buy the keyboard & mouse and connect each to the USB? If he has to have it, where do I get it? I know nothing about Macs...

Mac's work just fine with any decent USB mouse out there. The mouse can be plugged in directly into the USB.

As for the keyboard, they are more finiky dealing with windows keyboards. Ironically they seem to work very well with some Microsoft keyboards. In fact, the M$ keyboards (don't know which ones) ship with software that remaps the ctrl and alt keys for the mac function keys.

The keyboard has a builtin 2 port USB hub. You do not need to use it, tho I wonder why he wouldn't want to. The mouse and keyboard are two separate USB devices, so you can plug both into the back into two separate USB ports, but all that does is use up all your ports.
