Let's start backwards and work up:

5. No, you probably can't. Because:

4. There are a variety of connectors in-use for this purpose, what kind of router is it?

3.
2.--|> ----- loss in cabling at these frequencies is extreme, extension is not recommended
1. /

When the cabling is extended in a commercial environment, an amplifier and system re-certification is usually required (one by necessity, the other by law). The construction of the cable must be somewhere in the range of "Perfect" to "Near Perfect" or all teh signal goes away, or in some cases, you roast the output electronics.

If you don't know what you are doing, you can interfere with a great many people. If you need to stretch the distance, it is recommended to do it from the cabled side (with UTP ot coax ... depending on your setup).

Good Luck

please provide more information, like the make/model router, external antenna specs, indoor or outdoor use, favorite color, etc...

usually these cables come in a male SMA > male N type. they wont directly affect your dsl connection, however there is HUGE db loss associated with such extensions.

i suggest you post what exactly you are trying to accomplish...its not as simple as plugging an antenna into a long cable and calling it a day.

Long Coax for 2.4 GHz deteriorates dramatically the signal.

The practical solution is to Install a second Access Point close or at he spot you want to put the Antenna on, and connect it to the first Router with CAT5e cable.

If the indented location does not have power outlet than the second Access Point should have POE (Power Over Ethernet) capacity.

Thanks of u guys comment. My router is Westell and model is 327W. My router setup at 1st floor. I hope there is a wireless dsl connection at basement. Because the router is far away to the window, I want to extend the antenna to window in order to enhance the range of connection. That is my purpopse.
