hey!

i have been trying to install win2k on my system:

AMD Thunderbird Slot A 700
Fic SD11 REV 1.7
384MB of Infineon PC133 Memory
IBM 10.0 GB HARD DRIVE UDMA 33 model # DTTA-351010
Elsa Gladiac Geforce 2 GTS

that's all in the system while it's installing

the problem is, i begin the setup. I set the partitions and win2k setup copies files to the hard drive. It then restarts the computer. It boots in until it begins the win2k setup process. About half-way through the blue indicator (before the GUI comes up) the BLUE SCREEN comes up, saying, "BOOT DEVICE INACCESSIBLE 100000x000000 (something like that..), if you are recieving this for the first time please restart, Please check that the hard drive is properly configured and terminated, Also, check that the drive is detected in the bios" (not word for word, but close enough)

can someone please help me find out what's wrong. I have tried 4 differen hard drives and the same problem.

If someone can help me!! ill GIVE u the biggest and bestest smile U have seen in ur LiFE PROMISE!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Fic SD11 REV 1.7

Does this board have an ATA66 IDE controller? If so, it mat require drivers and you'll need them on a floppy.

hmmm, i had that problem just yesterday when i was trying to install win2k adv srv

i fixed that particular problem by making the setup recognize my HD controller (ATA66) that was internal ith the Abit BE6...

i had to F6 when it told me if i had any SCSI or RAID cards I used, and insert the HPT66 Drivers diskette... and it 'installed' it...

but THEN it gave me another blue screen error: it was like PAGE_INACCESSIBLE or something i forgot really...

i got a few questions i posed yesterday and still haven't been answered:

1) how do you choose which partition (drive letter) to install W2k to?
because when you run setup in windows, it just says install dir \WINNT... i tried to change it to D:\WINNT but it just keeps the \WINNT...

2) is there anything else I need to do for a dual boot with WinMe? i ran the w2k adv srv setup in Winme, and it did what its supposed to do (i guess), and it rebooted and came up with the boot manager...

3) what da heck is that second blue screen im getting about the default PAGE or whatever?
anyone else had this problem before?

thanks

It's been awhile, but at the start on the installation you are given choices. I forget the actual choices, but one is to specify what drive to install the OS on. I've always copied the i386 file to the harddrive from Win98 onto a different drve letter before I tried the installation. Btw, I am using the upgrade if that makes a difference.

hmm... i guess i should try again...
i didn't do the copy the setup files to harddrive...

and i remember; it never asked me about partition or anything.. it just gave me the 3 option menu... advanced options - accesibility option - language

thanks
