A little overclocking help please...

Last time I overlocked a processor it was my 1G Tbird...

I just got an A7N8X and a 2100+ TBred.

Question is, do I need to connect bridges as in the "pencil" trick for the TBird, or not?

Dom

I'm assuming you received the 2100+ Tbred B from Newegg.com. You do NOT have to unlock these processors considering motherboards are doing this automagically.
Just slowly but surely increase the FSB and report back to us 🙂, and if need be, drop the multiplier.

Thanks for the quick response... yup, it's the 2100+ from newegg.

I'll report in once everything is all together, maybe later tonight or early tomorrow.

Tonight or die 😀

I should get my 2100+ either Monday or Tuesday, and naturally, I'll let you guys know about that too.

Don't you keep us waiting here!!! :|

You're in for a big one. The 2100Xp from Newegg is like.......Viargra......

:Q Well if it is, I'll be getting extra hard Monday or Tuesday night once mine comes! 😕

OK here's the scoop.

Without any real tweaking, I just did this: 166MHz x 13

My XP 2100+ thinks its a XP 2700+ ! looks very promising indead 🙂

And you're stopping?!!?!?!?!? WIMP! Unless I see 3000+ equivalents, we might have to confiscate that chip 😀

Who said anything about stopping.... 🙂🙂🙂

Ran it to 166x13.5 but Prime95 failed.

Now trying variants running with a 200Mhz FSB

Starting slowly but so far 200x10 looks to be OK, havent run benchmarks though... I'll post when I know

Which boards do this? Is it all XP's or just the 2100+? I'm lost.

Thanks!

pretty much all kt400 chipset and i think all nforce2 (cept asus, theirs will i think with a newer bios)

have you increased Vcore or Vdimm Domination?

Thanks for the information... What is Vdimm Domination? I know Vcore is the voltage

hmmm..i worded taht kinda weird lol
i meant it as a question to Domination, if he had increase the Vdimm at all

anyways, vdimm is voltage supplied to dimm slots (ram) whereas vcore is voltage suppleid to the cpu

The person who started this thread has the nickname "Domination" 😉

Vdimm is the voltage going to the memory stick (dimm)

OK here's another update... now running 200x11.5 (that's 2.3 GHz to you and me 🙂). This part is rated at 1.73 GHz :Q

VDIMM - 2.7 V
VCORE - 1.725 V

I'm running corsair XMS PC3200 - right know am using aggressive timing on CPU and memory...

I'm pretty mych a noob at overclocking XPs... so any advise on going higher on the voltages?

I ran Prime 95 for about 10 min at this speed, looks OK so far

EDIT:

Oh BTW, temps look pretty good case is 32C and CPU is 40C while running Prime95 torture test

OK, well ran Prime95 all night at 200x11.5... no errs

I'm calling it stable.

I think I need a bit more cooling on the FSB chip so I'm sticking at this plateu till then... lots of luck to others with the 2100+ TBred B.
