I know the adapter requires18V, 440mA. But is it DC 18V or AC 18V?

And also about polarity, should the adapter's inner pin be +ve (and outer part -ve) or the other way around? I couldn't find that info online after quite a bit of googling.

If there is a polarity sign, then it's DC. AC isn't polarity specific.

There was no polarity sign on the modem itself :| could be either way... Thanks for the info btw.

Judging from the decidedly poor documentation that I came up with while searching, I wouldn't worry about toasting this modem. It's junk anyway.

Get a power supply of the proper DC voltage & mA and try both polarities. It's pretty easy, cut & strip all 4 wires (2 from each end) hold them in your hands & touch them & see if you get a power light. It's pathetically low voltage, you won't get hurt. I've never fried a DC device yet with reverse polarity. My guess is it will be the inner pin that is + though.

Thanks for the help, I was just worried I might fry it with the wrong polarity. I'll try it tomorrow.
