A little help in RTCW, please.

I am in the level where you first meet those ELECTRIC monsters that are real fast and you get the real powerful machine gun. I have killed everyone, but the guy in the room that controls the switch to the doors (where I probably need to go).

Does anyone remember how to get him to open door?

I am still stuck. I have even tried to use the CHEATS option to toggle NOCLIP, but I can't even get that to work.

Have u jumped up on the boxes and jumped up to a higher level next to the room with the guy in. (if it's the same level) You need to find a switch which lowers a section of floor.

Keep trying......cheats never win

I know. I don't like to cheat, but I have been stuck for a few days now and the game starts losing its fun when you are just running around with NOTHING to kill.

I have flipped most swithces. Do they have to be done in a certain order?

I think so. There are about 4 levers, but I can't find the one to lower bridge.

to get the cheats to work you have to get a hacked wolf.exe thing.

have you tried to swim around in the underwater part? i forget what to do in that part.

You don't need to get a hacked wolf.exe to cheat, just add " + set sv_cheats 1" after filename in the shortcut. That worked for me, it's nice to know that you have to option to cheat if you want to later.

I did that: Add "+set sv_cheats 1", but it does NOT work. When I try to use a cheat is says that "Cheats not enabled on this server". When I try to toggle cheats option it says "sv_cheats are read-only".

Hmm, strange, it works me, but I have the european version, maybe there's a difference. The shortcut for me is "E:\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\WolfSP.exe" + set sv_cheats 1
What do you mean by toggle cheats option? You cheat by typing commands in the console the console.

Yes, I know how it is suppose to work. The sv_cheats command has two values 0 and 1, thus it "toggles" either one of those two states.

I have used similar cheat techniques in KingPin and Half Life, but have not had success with RTCW, yet.

Anyone else have any ideas?

IN ORDER FOR CHEATS TO WORK, you have to:

1) set that set sv_cheats 1 thing in the shortcut
2) run the game once and SAVE anywhere...
3) quit the game
4) re-run the shortcut with the cheat thing...
5) LOAD where you were, then
6) enter the cheat code...

the key is to load a saved game... That's what worked for me.

Yeah, forgot to mention the save game, sorry. You don't have to have the "cheat-shortcut" when you save the game however, you only need to save the game, then set the cheat ín the shortcut and then start the game and load a saved game and enter what you want in the console. It doesn't always do it the first time you try though, sometimes you have to write it two times in the console to get what you want.

Well, I tried it (saving game, then re-entering game), but still nothing. I have now completely re-played the whole level, thinking maybe I missed something or killed someone too soon, but still stuck.

I wish I could figure it out! You would think I was new to 1st shooters, but I have a long history with them (wolfenstein, Redneck Rampage, Quake series, Blood 2, Shogo, Unreal, UT, Half-Life series, etc.) I hate resorting to cheats, but I can't even get these to work. I feel like I am working on one of my Oracle Course assignments!

1. I finally figured out how to get out of the level I was stuck in. See BELOW for more details.


2. I still can NOT get the cheat codes to work. I have followed all directions and advice, but when I try to type in a cheat or "toggle" the cheats, the game says: "sv_cheats is READ ONLY".

After I defeated the "electrical" half beasts (because only have half a body I guess), I could not figure out how to get to the guard in the room with the switch that lowers the draw bridge. In the area that housed 2 of the half beasts, there is a DOOR on the other side of the room. I could NOT see the door because the dark shadow covering that wall. Just go through door, kill guard, toggle button, and go over the lowered bridge.

I can't believe it took me so long, but that was the second time that I have been stuck in a level because I could NOT see a door or exit.

The level where you first meet the Uber Soldat? (him with the tesla).
switch to minigun, jump straight oer the hand-rail, run right up to him and CROUCH with the minigun (venom) firing non-stop into his legs. peice of piss this way, youll lose about 50 health.... then run under the opposite platform and pick up the health and armour, switching to flamer to take out the irritaing pistol-weilding scientists. A similar version of this is to first run to the right, into the corner of the raised platform you start off on, hide there for about 5 secs (to draw him closer to you), then jump down and again crouch+minigun him in the legs.
