Are you running eScorcher antivirus? They have a supporter5 that does the auto-updates each time you logon.

I'm not actually using eScorcher. I'm just currently finishing out the last of the InnoculateIT before it's terminated. Is there any way that you can disable the auto-update in eScorcher to see if that resolves the issue? The only support they offer seems to be their support center page.

Is it possible a file in eScorcher has become corrupted? Can you do a clean uninstall and then re-install it and see if that resolves the issue?

This is a bit off-topic, but has anybody ever seen eScorcher attempt to install itself without permission?

My friend was surfing stick-death.com and an installer popped up on the screen. I asked him wtf he clicked on. He said he was just waiting for the flash to finish loading, and then this stupid installer started on its f*cking own. I was pissed to say the least.

(I've asked this before, but nobody responded :()

KnightBreed,

You're not the only one to complain of that. Check this link. They recommend trying Ad-Aware to get rid of it.

yeah, it actually installed itself on my machine.

Is this program actually any good?

Talon -- i uninstalled it and got rid of that error. Question is, do i install it again, or is it bad?

God bless the people at Lavasoft. :) Didn't think I'd need Ad-aware for "antivirus software."

Spooner,

I don't like anything that installs itself without permission. I would find something else. If you do a search in software or tech support or some of the other tech forums, you should find plenty of suggestions for free AV programs. Several members seem to be running AVG with no problem. I don't know how it runs on Win2000Pro. Perhaps some of the other members can help.

so this Supporter5.exe file is in my Windows/System32 folder. (it also has this weird icon, like an I with lightning bolts)

Of course, when I try to run it, it does nothing. Now I'm wondering if it's a virus of some sort.

I wonder if i can just delete it.......
