A little ABS plumbing help?

I had a wet spot on my carpet for a couple weeks, so I ended up finding a cracked pipe in the wall behind my washer and dryer. I called a friend who does plumbing work and we replaced everything with 2.25" black ABS pipe. We used plenty of ABS adhesive and cut off all the burres. Well today I come in and see some water dripping down the side of two of the sections on the pipe.

I don't want to bother my friend again with it so I'd like to fix it myself. I was thinking of using some pipe puddy (Can't remember what its called) and rub it around the section connectors, but am worried about how permanent it will last. Is this stuff intended for temporary use or permanent?

Thanks guys!

Take a tip from Paul Harvey - JB Weld it! JB Weld holds great to plastic and metal. Purchase at your favorite auto parts store!

MISTER 2 U, nope its leaking from two of the couplers that connect two pipes together. I know you can get some stuff like Wangel's JB Weld, but it meant for cracked pipes and such. I was wondering if this stuff was meant for temporary or permanent use? I just don't want to fix it now and redo the dry wall, just to find its leaking again in a week.

Thanks

I don't want to hurt your feelings so don't take this personal.
If you and your friend replaced the pipes and it wasen't done right it would leak.
I would not try putty or any thing like that I would re-do the piping again .
This leak is in the wall you have the wall apart now fix the leak right while the wall is still open.
It would be more money in the long run to fix the pipe wih some putty only to have the putty fail down the road
and have to open up the wall again.

some questions
1.What did you replace with the abs pipe copper or pvc pipe.
2.Did you use a cleaner then the glue ? ( the cleaner helps the glue adhear better )
3.Are these the pipes that provide hot and cold water or just the drain pipe?
4.Is the leak coming from someware other then were you patched the pipes?

Good point Mister 2 U, also if it is plastic pipe, make sure they are the same type, do not mix types, also make sure you use the right glue for the pipe.

Hurt my feelings? nope. 😀

We replaced the black 2.5" ABS pipe with black 2.5" ABS pipe. Then we used a ABS specific cement between each connection. Each connection had plenty of cement and each was tight.

Overall there are about 12 connections with 2 that seem to be leaking.

Try redoing the two that are leaking the glue might not have set properly?
Or you got something in the glue that did not allow it to set right?
