Sorry if this is a repost, but I didn't see listed. I think the deal for free shipping is for today only, but you still can't beat the price on either speakers (just ordered the 641's myself).

Altec Lansing 641 (new, fact.sealed)]

http://specs.emscomputing.com/cgi-bin/specs/specs.asp?pid="442827"&sid="3d45857600844cb8274141de46f006ac"&price="$122.00"

Logitech z560 (new, fact.sealed)

http://specs.emscomputing.com/cgi-bin/specs/specs.asp?pid="736962"&sid="3d45857600844cb8274141de46f006ac"&price="$105.00"

They're probably OEM's in a white box, but who cares as long as they're new. For those unfamiliar, these are BIGASS heavy speakers (about 60lbs for the 641's) so I would jump on the free shipping if you're thinking of either one.

Dammit. URLs didn't take. You'll have to copy/paste the entire line into your browser or navigate through emscomputing.com's site yourself.

NOt a repost. This deal was posted for one day only, and hsan't been updated. The free shipping was dead this weekend. Nice find. Might pick myself up a set of 641s. Thanks

which of these two speakers are better? i like clear/crisp sound. not a lot of unnecessary noises. good bass is a plus, but not totally necessary.

yea, which one is better, i don't really care about much except for white noise, I hate it. When I'm not playing anything and I turn it up all the way there must be NO WHITE NOISE!

pointless fun: you can edit the url's and get the page to load with a price of whatever you want! I, of course, doesn't affect the cart contents, but nice for a cheap thrill. also, when I looked at the products, as soon as I add to cart, it confirms my order, so dont' know what's up with that.

Does such a speaker exist (esp. in this price range) where there is no hiss when turned all the way up?

In regards to the better speaker, IMO the z560 has more bass, the 641's has crisper high's and mid's.
Can't go wrong with either.

I personally have the z560's.

I have blown up 2 sets of Logitech z560s, the first set kept blowing fuses in the Sub. The second set they sent me had no fuse but an on/off switch where the fuse used to go. The Sub one Sunday started to smoke and crackle. The loudest I play them is about 50% of the volume control ( plenty loud) . This is the third set in less than a year. Logitech was good about replacing them, but very slow. If you feel the cooling grill on the back of the Sub, it is hot enough to cook an egg, even with the volume at about 20%. I had a set of Altec Lansings for about 2 years with no problems before the Z560s. Maybe I just got unlucky. I like the sound when they are working
