A New Orleans political consultant who is Senator Kennedy's brother-in-law, Raymond Reggie, has been operating in Democratic circles for the last three years as an undercover informant for the FBI, sources close to the matter said yesterday.

At a federal court hearing yesterday morning, Reggie, 43, who organized fund-raisers for President and Mrs. Clinton, pleaded guilty to two felony charges, bank fraud and conspiracy. Prosecutors described check-kiting and loan fraud schemes he operated involving three Louisiana banks, but they did not publicly detail his cooperation with the government.

The OP doesn't meet basic P&N requirements. Is the text a quote or the OPs commentary? That's quite a source. Did you publish it? :p

As someone said last month ...

I'd rather be hunting with Cheney than drinking with Kennedy. :D

Article requires subscription.

Because this thread may have been transfered from OT; we should cut the OP some slack.

I suspect that he pasted the relevant info for all to see.

It'll be interesting to see if widespread corruption was uncovered. If not, this revelationcould take on a whole other meaning, like a Republican controlled Government spying on it's main opposition. If it turned out that way, it would make White Water look like an unpaid Parking Ticket.

Sure is amazing the amount of bank fraud, check fraud, and campaign fund raising problems that surround the Clintons.

The same newspaper that brought us...

"Saddam moved all his weapons to Syria"

Nothing to see here, move along.

This story is kinda old.

If the justice dept has dirt on the Clintons or other Dems and waits until late '06 to start filing charges I'll be the first to scream "dirty tricks". If Ray Reggie uncovered or taped anything prosecutable the JD should get to work right now.

That having been said... I wonder what's on those tapes. ;)

Perhaps there's some dirt on ol' Hillary. Hopefully enough to keep her from running in '08 (which I don't think she will anyway)

I don't think so. I found two articles that made a point of mentioning she wasn't a point of focus on the investigation. The guy in her campaign who was eventually charged with campaign finance violations on her behalf (for that fundraiser in California) was later acquitted. I could be wrong but it sounds like this story is done.

Considering the fact that Neil Bush was actually supposedly in charge of Silverado Saving and Loan when it went belly up and the only thing that stopped there being an investigation into it was his father, Pres. George HW Bush, saying there was nothing there, I'd say there are much deeper ties to banking fraud in the Bush family.

That's what I was thinking, if they didn't uncover anything then this could look bad for Republicans, even if they weren't involved in having him as an informant.
