Dale Evans and Roy Rogers were riding back to the radio ranch after a day of shopping in town. Dale had picked up a new dress and Roy had bought a pair of loafers. As they rode through a ravine a mountain lion leaped off a ledge and on to the back of Roy's horse. Both horses bolted with Dale's horse heading straight back to the corral at full gallop. Roy's horse took off with Roy and disappeared over the hill. Dale was worried sick when Roy's horse came back to the ranch with no Roy. Roy failed to return to the ranch for several hours. Around sunset Roy came limping home with a few cuts and bare feet. He explained that he kicked the cat and the cat ripped the loafers right off his feet, swallowed them whole and was bearing down on Roy when Roy's horse reared up, scaring the cat off. The horse had reared, frightening off the mountain lion but also dumping Roy who then had to walk home in bare feet. The next day, Roy and Dale rode back into town to buy another Roy pair of loafers. As they rode through town they came upon a hunter with a mountain lion slung across the back of his horse. Dale turned to Roy and asked......
"Pardon me Roy, but is that the cat who ate your new shoes?"
