A Hypothetical Way of Making Quick Cash with MySpace

I saw a commercial about the movie 'Step Up' and at the end it showed a MySpace.com address. It was www.myspace.com/stepupmovie

I noticed then that many movie previews have MySpace sites now. Especially the movies for teens.

Then I thought, what if someone already owns that address? Wouldn't the studio pay good money to get the address? I'm sure those MySpace sites generate alot of ad revenue.



Maybe someone could cash in if they went through a list of upcoming teen movies and registered the movie's names on myspace.

Let's say 'Bring it On 3' will be released next year. All you have to do is register myspace.com/bringiton3 and myspace.com/bringiton3movie and treat them as fan sites for the movie. That way the studio will work with you.

I just thought I would share that.
 
People do this with domain names already. For those selling at reasonable prices, they may be bought by the company funding the film. There are a lot asking very high prices and so they just pick something else that works simply to make a point that they won't give into high prices.

Answer: With Myspace, it's not worth your time and effort. There's probably something already in the TOS against acts like this.

I agree with you. I did think the TOS would cover that but I wasn't sure.
 
I'm sure they would just grab something you don't have and I rather have a real domain name rather than myspace which is just a fad.

regardless, it doesn't seem to be worth the effort to think of every possible name for the movie and register them all. there's not too much incentive to pay you big bucks, when they can probably figure out a free way to do it.

When I see a movie with a myspace instead of a normal site I won't watch it. To me its as if the people that are making the movie are too cheap to put together a decent site.
