A hypothetical question about saving DVDs to HDD.

This question is purely hypothetical, as right now I have nowhere near enough space on my 20gig Maxtor, but, is it possible to just copy a DVD to your HDD, just copying and pasting in Windows Explorer, and then being able to watch it from your hdd? Or do you need to rip it somehow? Thx, I'm kinda curious to know, and, hey, if it's possible, it might just be time to get rid of some old stuff on my machine.

Not possible to cut and paste, you'll still have to decrypt the VOB files so they be played in a HD.

Hm. Is there any software out there to do this?

There definetly is, if you know where to look... There was a big court case about it too, since the MPAA didn't like it too much.
