A "how much is this worth" topic

Here are a few things I would like to purchase in the near future, could you guys tell me if I should ask for a lower price or if I'm undercutting the going rate?

4x 128mb PC133 ram: I have an offer fo 35$, this seems reasonable to me
an Nvidia 5200 AGP card 128mb. These are new about 50$, i'm thinking of asking for 30 or maybe 25?

1.3 - 1.5 ghz celeron 100mhz FSB: 30$? 40? would I notice much speed increase between the two?

Thanks for your input!

Search the FS/T forum as a guideline, but price-check threads aren't permitted. Sorry. 🙂

ok, well instead I'll just ask this:

with the given requirements (first post and my sig) would I notice much dofference between 1.3 and 1.4 ghz? I think I would be limited by my FSB.

This is all really subjective. Would you notice the difference in what program? Either way, it's doubtful. I can tell slight differences between a P3 500 & P3 550, but that is because they are crunching numbers, and I can see the stats differ. If running office apps or games, no.

Also, per your OP, the prices you posted are reasonable. Not sure about the vid card. And you might be able to find the RAM on the FS/T forums. Just post a "WTB PC133 RAM" thread. And if you don't get hits after a few days and a few bumps, then go ahead and get it at the above. 🙂

allright. One more quick question. My mobo only supports 100mhz FSB, If I get some fancy cooling for my celeron and overclock the FSB to 133, will I be able to get my AGP and othet buses back at the proper speeds, or is that only if your board supports 133 natively?

I believe the entire bus is locked, as there is no divider for the AGP/PCI bus. I believe. Researching through the manual of your mobo would give you the best answer for that one.

Also, if at all possible, I would search for true Pentiums instead of Celerons. I've been researching quite a bit about P3s as well latley, and all I hear is that the performance is much better on a P3 compared to a Celeron.

I'm installing a Celeron 733MHz (128k), and I'll be able to benchmark them against the P3-500 (512k) & P3 533 (256k). If you want, I can let you know of the results... I'm just waiting on a NIC for the setup.
