A hobby digital camera

Hello everyone, I want to be involved in photographing nature and animals especially dogs, since I am the owner of one, but more from the hobby at least to begin with. I need some advice on buying a camera because I don't really understand the technique. I'm looking at a Lumix DMC-TZ70 right now , but I don't know if maybe it's too much money for a hobby if he has some experience or if he is just a photography lover to make some suggestion to buy a camera for a beginner, thanks in advance.

Replaced link with one directly to Panasonic for specifications.

I have not used this model myself but it is a highly regarded camera at a modest price. I previously used a Lumix LX5 and I find the Lumix cameras to have well thought out controls when one wants to move beyond point-and-shoot. The sensor is on the small end for a modern camera but good for the price. For nature photography, it has a good macro distance. What you give up going with an older, small sensor camera with contrast detect focus are 4K video, high speed autofocus, and low light performance.
