A hamster bit me just now

Something is wrong with our new hamster. He seems to have trouble adjusting to his new environment, or just plain stressed out because my little brother and sister kept bugging him constantly.

Any ways, I tried to take him out of the cage just now and he bit me pretty darn hard. The bleeding stopped but I got quite "deep" toothmarks in my thumb. Shall I worry about infections of any sort?
 
Probably based on the fact that his/her brain is the size of a needlehead 🙂 I've been bitten in the past. I didn't go to hospital, although not to mean that you shouldn't but I doubt it.

just kidding.😛 i wouldn't worry about it, just use a topical ointment (neosporin) and a bandage.

That's true. There was a Hamster named Bubbles that was a well known assasin.
 
I have a friend that killed both of his hamsters one night because they were too noisy and he just can't stand it. They were fighting between them and then he came into play and the game was over with sudden death.

Hamsters are generally not the best pets to hold. They don't like being messed with, and don't really get used to people. They bite a lot. If you want a pet you can actually "pet", hold, and play with, you need a cat or a dog. Thats just how it is.

That being said, be sure to wash the bite out, maybe use some alcohol or iodine, and bandage it with Neosporin.

Right you are. He told me he just tried to knock them off and find them death in the morning actually.

 
from a medical standpoint, any animal that penetrates your skin requires professional examination. But, you're probably alright. also I am not a medical student, so don't take my word for it

if it was your eyeball or nads or something, well maybe professional medical advice would be necessary

Your friend is really sick. 🙁 My daughter has had 3 Hamsters, and 2 of them bit all the time. After all 3 expired, she wanted another, but I had had enough of the biting and said no. So she got a cat, and now I have stinking cat, and by that I mean it smells really really bad when it goes. 🙁 🙁

yeppers. Just watch it for any swelling or redness, could be getting infected. Should be fine by the sound of it.
