For the past three weeks I have been home a total of 4 days. I recently just got home to find that I have been summoned for jury duty for the month of July. Hooray. :(

Funny, mine always get "lost" in the mail.

To make matters even better I have three court dates between July and August. I wonder how that will play out.

It's my civic duty and I already have issues with the state so I'm going to comply. Furthermore, whether I had issues with the state or not I'd still comply.

my last jury duty summons got "lost" in the mail.

I never went and nothing ever came of it. this was like 2 years ago... I was pulled over by a cop a couple months ago, so it seems safe to assume there's no warrant for my arrest floating out there.

I had what I felt was a legit excuse at the time. I was poor -- too poor to miss work and pay for transportation to the court house just to plead my case before a judge, so I just crossed my fingers and ignored the summons.

I wouldn't do it again, though, at least not since I've moved. jury duty in jersey city was a total nightmare. you get compensated $5/day, and you spend $25/day between lunch and parking.

Actually, they sent the summons while I was working out of state for several months. I went through the procedure of explaining my situation, and was granted exemption, only to have them send another jury summons the following month. That's when they started to get "lost" in the mail.

I haven't received any more since; maybe I'm "banned" (could only hope.)

I do consider it my duty, however, and have served on juries in the past and will again if called.
