A good way to flatten out carpet?

I just bought a small throw rug/carper(6'x8') and in one corner its a bit lumpy from being pressed up against the rack in the store. Is the only way to get this to flatten out to let it sit or does putting anything on it help?

I don't have a steam vac 🙁

You are going to clog your vacuum with mud if you just suck up water. Unless of course you have a shop vac😉

You might try to use your hair dryer on the underside of the carpet to heat it/soften it. Then lay it flat.

I've never tried this, but they use a great deal of heat on carpets when they seam them, so it shouldn't hurt.

Just a thought.
