A good video card for a non gamer ?

I am looking for a good video card that will support my Dell 2405 monitor, have good, fast 2D and decent 3D. Which is the best card ?

Wait... you have a x600Pro right there... well if you're not gaming any card will do fine... but I guess a 6600GT or a 6800GS would be right.

Just put together another system. There are a lot of low end cards out there and I am trying to find out which are the better ones for PCie and <$100.

A regular X700, it would even give you better performance than that X600 Pro... But then again, you weren't looking for gaming cards...

EDIT: ATI cards are generally the best cards for 2D, after Matrox of course...
