hollly crap!

but dont they have one of the best flight records? (the recent crash last year was the first, i believe)

i could be wrong. there was one really bad record airline. i think it was either china air, or air china (two different airlines)

was there nto an airport in china that had a "turn at the checkerboard" crazy turn on the flight in? planes were baking at upwards of 45 degrees. If you missed the turn you were screwed. I seem to remember 747's landing sideways, and engine's scraping, along with a few over runways into the sea?

I rememebr the airport was closed about 5 years ago because of the insanity. There were some sweet pics that I found, but I can not find them any more because I do not rememebr the name of the airport :(

That airport was in Hong Kong. I believe the name is Kai Tok, spelling might be a bit off though.

Damn, the mechanics should be sent to the labor camp for using expensive material like seatbelt instead of duct tape.

all planes go through inspection at "decent" airports...this must have
departed from say China or something...so they could slip by...
i think its safe as long as ur leavin from a "good" airport...

don't fly china airlines in general. they have a history of employing bad pilots. there have been many stories in chinese-language newspapers of china air airplanes dropping rapidly and then stabilizing with no reasons given...more than enough to unnerve the passengers.

yea, that was it. when i went to china, i went on air china, and my dad said its one of the safest. on the way back, we took china airlines (the one with the pink flower i think), and they had all this technical stuff goin on, and people on the plane got kind of worked up. (some guys even started cussing in chinese and demanded to be let off the plane :Q)

if i ever do a trans-pacific flight again it'll be on malaysian or singapore air. those guys rock. china air planes don't look like they've ever been washed. inside or out.

yea. it was. according to something i read a while ago. air china wanted to create the airline named "china airlines". but by the time they started it, a taiwanese company based in taiwan already made an airline that took the name. thus the chinese had to change the name to "air china" and its the one with the bird symbol i believe.

hence the confusing name. (i keep mixing them up)
