Do you know the way to use Ebay Thousands do it almost every day. Seriously that probably your best bet. If you need somthing local look at the yellow pages or possibly a renisance fair/shop.

if you just want a decorative one, www.weaponmasters.com will get you one at a cheap price.

If the guy does kendo or something though, or wants a well balanced sword, its a tough search in the US. I've only done kendo a little and even I can tell a blade's quality. Your probably not concerned with that though, only martial arts buffs would care about that sort of thing.

a little off topic, but i bought a 15 dollar sword from some random site on the net a long time ago, and it was sent in an unwrapped box via USPS. On the box was a large picture of the bigass sword and big lettering that said "Hunting Knife". The post office people looked at me funny when they handed me the box.

thanks everyone. tried ebay and shipping is high and those blades look ultra cheap. asked seller (a ebay store) some questions like where is the blade made in and some simple questions and he was unable to come up with any answers!

weaponmasters.com look decent. i'll probably tell my friend to buy from there...

Well, there was a nice video of some guy on a shopping channel trying to sell a katana. He inadvertently attempted to commit seppuku.
