A good monitor for gaming tn/ips/va? PA246Q?

I watch movies and play games and i haven't bought a monitor in over three years. I really want to get away from 6 bit panels as I'm sick and tired of seeing the dithering effects when a monitor tries to render the color but cant. Is it possible to get one that's good for gaming, and isn't 440 bucks?

The one that I'm looking at now is the ASUS ProArt Series PA246Q which is $439.00 at newegg

But 440 for a monitor seems a bit steep. I don't mind paying the money if it does what I need it too but for that price I can almost buy 3 23.6 inch TN LED LCD's. I also saw the ASUS ML249H but I heard the 8ms response time is too slow for gaming but it does have an 8 bit panel. I don't know but I figure there's got to be a good monitor for what I need that's not 440 bucks.

maybe im crazy for this recommendation but i like acer monitors i have the p215h thing is built like a tank not super thin but it accidently fell off my desk cause of my kittens and lol the thing didnt even power off or anything two months later the thing is still as good as new also a friend of mine was gaming on my machine and he had a temper issue and he punched the monitor too...it didnt do nothing to it...yes he cant use my machine no more and no more kittens in my room lol very durable monitor and its usually under $200 online
