A good MB for a xp3000+

you would have a better setup with a SiS 748 based motherboard.....i have used the sis, via and amd based setups with a 2500 barton and a 3000 barton and the sis 748 out performed them all by far....extremely stable....

MSI "KM4M-V" VIA KM400
Like so many queries posted on AT and most any other hardware site, there almost never is one "best" of anything technologically. There are many "good" MB's for an AMD XP 3000. I have the basic A7N8X, the dash-X model, with a 3000, and I'm very happy with it. If you have a long history of past preference for Via, however, why not look at something a lot newer, since the Via 400's (it seems to me) were really stopgaps that missed the mark in many ways.

:brokenheart:

NForce 2 is the way to go. I'd pick up an Asus A7N8X. This what I have in one of my kid's computers. The other two have Chaintech KT-600s. The NForce chip set is much better. Plus it runs dual channel RAM.
