Hey folks,

I just got Need For Speed Underground, and i really like it. I finally want a gamepad for my pc, but i dont know what to look for (i never play consoles). Can anybody recommend a cost effective gamepad that also kicks ass?

Thanks,

butch

Since we're talking about Need For Speed Underground, this would make a great pad.

FYI - Logitech Driving Force Wheel (USB) works great with it.
I use a PS2 gamepad with PS2 to USB converter, and it works okay too.
Any gamepad with analog control would do. (force feedback is a big plus).

Look for the Logitech Dual-Action. I'm using these exclusively now on the EA Sports games (Madden 2K4, NHL 2K4 and NBA 2K4) and my son is using one with NFS:U-all those games have a ready-made profile for the Dual-Action that works great and utilizes all the options.

Logitech dual action is a nice controller for all sports games and it works well for NFS too.

i dont think that game is intensive enough to deserve a wheel... :p maybe if you had plans of playing racing sims like F1 challenge later on... :D i have a logitech momo... and i dont feel right using the wheel on their 'bumper cam'... so i stuck with the pad.

i was in the computer store the other day and noticed a USB microsoft sidewinder gamepad.. it was like 20 bucks canadian ($15 USD or so probably.)

it looked decent... cant really beat the price.. unless you buy a gravis gamepad off ebay for a dolla :p

Nice.

I used a Thrustmaster Dual Power. For some reason, the vibration didn't want to shut off, so I was stuck with the lame rumble effects. :p

Man this game rules! I wish I could get it, I played it at a friend's house. He had the logitech gamepad that looks like a PS2 controller, it was awesome playing! I kinda wish he could get the d-pad to work with it, I'm not a fan of the joystick digital controls...

Get a Saitek! I picked mine up for $10, it works great and received some pretty good reviews.
