Hello, I just uninstalled Spyware Doctor because of its update problems and other problems. I now want something that does a good job at detecting spyware. Any suggestions please?

Super is still good, but MalwareBytes is now used by HJT advisers, also free. Use both

I agree about MalwareBytes .. a good program to remove some virus & trojans that get in. If you want real time protection in MalwareBytes, I think the License code is $29.95 and it is a One Time Fee

I've used Superantispyware and it really is very good. Got to give Malwarebytes a try sometime.

I've been using Spybot for some time now and it hasn't given me any problems. I'll give SAS a try when I get home. Also I use Spywareblaster to restrict unwanted sites.

Virus or unwanted program 'HEUR/HTML.Malware [heuristic]'
detected in file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Big White Box\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\wx49i6wt.default\Cache\EBBCA486d01.
Action performed: Deny access

Avira just gave me this message with I tried to go to www.superantispyware.com , is it a false positive? I'm a little puzzled.

"New virus or I'm getting paranoid?"

Usually I'm the latter :D I read avira's website on this scanner and evidently it has a high level of detection but creates a lot of false positives because of the nature of some peoples webpages.

so false alarm
