I am in the market for a really good dvd burner. My sony dru-710a konked after about 2 yrs.

Are these any good?
Plextor PX - 760A
Nec ND - 4550A
LiteOn SHM 165p65
BenQ DW - 1655

Not planning to buy any blu-ray stuff. Budget upto $125.00 If the really good ones are expensive, how much are they.

I am using both of these at the moment: Nec ND - 4550A & the BenQ DW - 1655. Both work great, use all types of media (the -R/+R) and have yet to produce a coaster. Haven't used very many of the 8.5GB disks, but the ones I have used turned out great.

I have a BenQ DW - 1655 does lightscribe and dual layer. I haven't burned a coaster yet and burn ~10-20 dvds a week and have been ever since July if that tells you anything.

I like my Sony DRU-810 and I have a Samsung SH-S182M that will do DVD-R DVD+R at 16x, lightscribe, DVD-R and DVD+R DL at 8x, and will do DVD-RAM if you had any of those at 12x. It's a bit louder than the sony but overall faster.

Samsung $32.99 @ newegg
