im using a gigabyte x48 mobo, 4 gigs gskill pc1000 ram and i will be ocing the e8400. I am probably not going to do serious serious overclocking but I will defintely will be doing some.

maybe like 3.8+ i dont really know. You see I was originally going to go with the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 but isnt that one kinda loud? I hear its a really good heatsink but maybe i want something quieter you know since im not going to oc serious like 4.4+ or whatever.

I dont know, what do you guys think.

I personally like the Tuniq 120. The fan that comes with is ok and pretty quiet. I put a different fan it and all it has is a bit more airflow. But here is what sold me....I was installing the Q9450 and hooked everything up and booted. All worked great..Had run FAh, CPU and GPU clients, for about an hour and checked on things. All fans were off due to a bad connection in a plug. Checked the temps with realtemp and never went higher than 65c during that time......:) I was stoked! It did its job....Btw, it's lapped too:D

Xigmatek 1283 or the OCZ Vendetta2 are very good HS's. TT120 is good, but surpassed by the current generation of HS's.

You do know with any of these tower heatsinks, you can buy your own fan and use it, right? Either of the two HS above (or the TRUE as well) will work fine for cooling with almost any fan that you use.

Get a scythe sflex, yate loon, or nexus 120mm fan, and you will be good to go. You probably don't really need over 1200rpm, which will keep the noise down.
