I was having trouble with the Compaq laptop I bought at the end of May. (Multitudinous display issues) Compaq was only marginally helpful on the phone and was balking at replacing the display. So, figuring it was worth a shot, I brought it back to the BestBuy I'd purchased it at.
I was out of the BestBuy exchange period by several weeks...they generally only allow refunds/exchanges on notebooks for 15 days, and it had been closer to 30 days. However, they cheerfully (BestBuy??) agreed to exchange it anyway.
They didn't have anymore of the model I was exchanging, so they offered to exchange it for a somewhat better HP laptop with a more powerful processor, more hard drive space, etc. The new laptop was listed for $100 more than the one I'd returned.
I may have been fortunate ... I think one of the guys I was talking to initially was the store manager. But still...what the heck? I've shopped at that BestBuy for years (for the prices and selection) and this is the first time I haven't left frustrated, angry and vowing never to return. Everyone was friendly and helpful. (It was slow as usual, but their clerks were woefully outnumbered so I can forgive that)
Is this the beginning of a kinder, gentler BestBuy??? (OK, maybe that's a stretch)
