A girl jumped off a highway bridge last night in my town

I was on the highway last night and saw brakelights ahead. As I approached, I saw that where highway merged onto another highway, the other highway was completely blocked off with police cars and flares. No cars were being let through.

I didn't think about it until today, when I was reading the paper. It turns out that a high-school aged girl jumped off a bridge onto that highway in an apparent suicide attempt, and was seriously injured, but lived.

It's so sad...luckily she wasn't hit by a car, but she'll be in so much pain for the rest of her life.

WTF, I remember the tread about the guy who tried this and you'all were saying how he was a dumbass. I guess it changes if it is a girl. :disgust:

we had a bunch of ppl jumping off onto the interstates in Atlanta and shutting down the interstate for about an hour or so... obviously ppl in the a-town were pissed as hell about having the downtown connector shut down during peak hours coz some moron jumped off. i think we had about 4 or 5 jumpers this summer, maybe more.

after this started, i realized how well every bridge over the interstate that was near our campus was fenced off so well. i guess that's one of the side effects of princeton's review ranking my college #2 for most depressing college.
 
When will teens today realize that it takes more than a 20 foot fall.

Though it probably put things in perspective for her... "man... I didn't realize how good I had it... being able to move and stuff."
 
I hope she's crippled so she doesn't tie up traffic with her antics again.

Sorry, but if you're gonna kill yourself, do so without making it a spectacle for other people and without possibly putting other people in danger.

EDITED for CORRECT meaning. :| If someone wants to kill themselves, LET THEM. It's the weak DNA weeding itself out; better that than allowing them to multiply!!

Don't tell me about "My family member this" and "My best friend that" I don't give a rat's ass! They are dead and the world is better off w/o them.
