a "general hardware" question of a different sort...

first the bad news: my auto stereo system was recently stolen out of my truck..kenwood head unit, rockford fosgate 400.4s amp(oldie but a goodie), and my box with 2 10" pioneer subs.

the good news is my insurance company is basically giving me a little over 600 bucks to replace everything AND all the installation hardware+intsallation cost to boot.

the kind of system i like is a good amount of bass, but not anything that is heard 2 blocks away...basically good all around sound.

i basically have 2 choices, instead of two 10" subs i am thinking of going with one 12"(200watts rms @ 2 ohms) running off the rear channel bridged, with the front channel going to 2 infinity speakers replacing stock speakers in the door.

or back to my old setup, two 10's with both front and rear bridged to each with 200 watts to each and the stock speakers running off the head unit.

usually i am the one giving advice, now i am on the other side of the coin 🙂 any speaker-amp setup reccomendations?

basically i am wanting to hear sound like my logitech z-5300's in my truck 🙂

I've heard good things about stuff from Adire...Shiva and Brahma subs. I bought four 6.5" CDT coaxials a few months ago, I love em to death...gotta install em in my other car tho, tranny blew on the old one right after I finished installing the rears. Oh well.

My friend has a single 12" in his wagon...massive bass (although the wagon is sealed pretty well). I've heard two 12s in a jeep and it's way loud outside. I'd say go for two 10s and some component speakers up front (Infinity speakers own tho, so if you like em definately don't upgrade 😉)

MSRP on a 12" Shiva is $125...I heard they're just sick.

i have heard good things about the infinity speakers, theyw ere what i was wanting to upgrade to from my stock ford speakers and run one 12" bridged frmo the amp.

the only problem is they would put me over my limit.

the wife says "not a dime over what the insurance co gives you!"

🙁

ok, think i got it figured out 🙂

12" polk-momo sub(running with 200 watts rms from amp)

box

alpine head unit

2 infinity reference speakers (running with 50 watts ea. rms from amp) to replace stock door speakers in my f-150

rockford fosgate punch p4004 amp to push it all

🙂
